This is a horror story all you knitters out there can probably relate to.
I gave up on using those silly little knitting needle point protectors ages ago because they were constantly falling off my needles, dropping stitches, and getting lost. Ugh, so annoying! I just used a plain old rubber band to hold my needles together, and that worked just fine — until it didn’t.
A couple years ago I was about half way through a fancy lace shawl when that darn rubber band got tangled in the yarn and BROKE it. You can imagine the meltdown that ensued. The poor boyfriend, having witnessed the whole dreadful debacle, did not have to imagine it and later declared, “I don’t ever want to see THAT again…”
A week or so later, having recently acquired a DIY 3D printer kit and having researched knitting needle measurements online, he presented me with the first Needle Wrangler.
We now carry three sizes of Needle Wranglers — our Minis (US0-3), Standards (US4-11), and Jumbos (US13-19) — the better to help us knitters keep our stitches in place and our needles reigned in. The Standard Needle Wranglers are now injection molded (locally – in Bellingham, WA), while the Minis and Jumbos are still 3D printed in our living room – though eventually we plan to get molds for these as well.
