One question that comes up pretty regularly is, what’s the best way to create a Tempestry collection?
There are several different options that can be tailored to what works best for you and your knitting group. We thought we’d give you the breakdown of these differences based on creating a 10-piece Original Tempestry Collection for one location. (Original Tempestries show the daily high temperatures for one year, so a 10-piece collection would show ten years for your location of choice.)
The easiest option is to order 10 Original Tempestry kits. Original Kits start at $90 and have optional add-ons like knitting needles, precipitation data & beads, etc., so this option would start at $900 in total. Note, though, that we offer a 10% discount on all orders over $500.
The second option is to order 10 worksheets and 10 Original Color Cards, and have us figure out how much of each color you need. We will then bulk-process the yarn as shown in the photo below rather than process individual kits. The price varies depending on your location, but the pictured example is for a town in New Hampshire that used 21 colors with enough yarn to practice on, and would come to a total of $719.50. (As above, you would get a 10% discount on this order.)
The third option is to process your own data, order 10 Original Color Cards, and figure out how much of each color you will need. We will then bulk-process the yarn as shown, based on your estimations. This particular example came to $519.50 and qualified for the 10% discount.
To further reduce costs, you could order just one official color card and put together some more for your collection participants, thus reducing the cost to $429.50.
