Original Tempestries are a visual embodiment of a year’s worth of daily high temperatures. A finished Original Tempestry will measure about 10-14″ wide and about 4-5″ long. The size will vary depending on the gauge of the crocheter (though gauge is not important).

A single Original Tempestry makes for a beautiful personalized wall hanging, perfect for commemorating a particular year — perhaps of a birth, a graduation, or a wedding.

We of course used an old-fashioned metal knitting needle to hang ours, but a simple wooden dowel or driftwood or lots of other things would work just as well.

Multiple Original Tempestriesmake for a striking historical display of changing temperatures across the years.

-One Tempestry worksheet (this includes the daily high temperature data for the year and location of your choosing*, the corresponding color for each day’s temperature, and the weather stations from which we retrieved your data

*Temperature data comes from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, and is available to the public. Please note, the NOAA data sometimes has to be supplemented with data from www.wunderground.com, or from nearby weather stations.

All our work is done in a smoke-free but cat-friendly home. While this particular cat is not prone to playing with yarn, her hair (as any pet owner knows) does occasionally stray.
