We are so excited about the National Parks Tempestry Collection! The plan, under the guidance of Erika Zambello, was to coordinate fifty volunteers to knit or crochet pairs of Original Tempestries: one for 2016 to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the national parks system, and one for either 1916 or 1966, depending on how far back the data goes. These pairs will eventually be worked into a book, proceeds from which will be split between National Parks Arts Foundation, National Parks Conservation Association, and National Parks Traveler Magazine.
This particular aspect of the Tempestry Project has continued to be so popular, however, that we are now well beyond fifty participants and counting! We’ve opened it up to everyone to create Tempestries for any years you’d like to commemorate. You get to keep your Tempestries, but we would love for you to photograph them in the park they represent and send us the photos to include on our NPTC website.
Thank you for your enthusiasm in the National Parks Tempestry Collection!
